Dashcam Turns Off When Unplugged

This article will explain why the dashcam will turn off or not turn on without power/as soon as it is unplugged.
Why does the dashcam turn off or not turn on without power?
- Since most of our dashcams do not have batteries to keep the machine running, they are only equipped with small button batteries to support timekeeping and parking mode.
- Therefore, it needs to be connected to the power cord all the time or plugged into the hardwire for use. The button cell battery is only used as a backup power source for some of the function modules.
- After unplugging the power supply, the dashcam will quickly black screen and enter the parking mode (without connecting the hardwire and turning on the parking mode), it will only briefly support recording video for a few seconds when the car is hit by a collision. At this time, the indicator light of the dashcam will be flashing blue.
How to judge whether the camera button battery is bad?
- Please use the car charger or USB cable to power the camera. If you unplug the power cord and the indicator light goes out immediately, it means the battery is dead or bad.
- Try to manually turn off the camera after plugging it in, and charge it for 1-1.5 hours. And then start it up again to see if it shuts off immediately.
- If it takes more than 1 second to turn off, the battery is fine.
